TEST RESULTS

If your GP has asked you to contact the Practice for the results of a test, you should usually allow 7 working days before contacting us, as it can take some time for results to come back. If the result or letter follows from a hospital appointment, please allow 10-14 working days.

Please telephone for test results between 10:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

The Receptionists are trained to give out the information that the GP has written on the result, but are not qualified to give out any further information.

Please note, it is the patient's responsibility to ring up for results of any tests carried out.

TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

Please either call at the reception desk or telephone the surgery during office hours. The receptionists will do their best to arrange for you to see a specific doctor or any member of the team at a time convent to you depending on availability. Please remember if you want to see a specific GP or Nurse to book your appointments well in advance. If your problem is medically urgent you will be seen the same day by the first available doctor. On arrival at the Surgery, always report to Reception to verify your attendance.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE ON TIME FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. IF YOU ARE LATE YOU MAY NOT BE SEEN.
CONSULTATIONS

Consultations are by appointment with the Doctor/Nursing Staff. Routine appointments are normally 10 minutes with the General practitioner, emergency appointments are 5 minutes, please keep within these times. Some consultations may require a longer time and need to be arranged specifically with the Doctor/Nurse.

EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS

If you contact the surgery and feel that your condition requires an emergency appointment the receptionist will take a few of your symptoms and ask the GP to call you back. The Receptionist will also take a note of the telephone number that the GP can call you back on.

The GP will call you back, and you should be ready to take the call anytime from then on.

If the doctor requires seeing you, they may ask you to attend the practice as soon as possible.

TELEPHONE APPOINTMENTS

For routine enquires, a telephone appointment can be arranged. Please call 01655 882708 before 11.30am to arrange for a GP to call you back.

CHAPERONES

If you would prefer to have another person present during your appointment please let the receptionist know and they will be happy to make arrangements for you.

NON ATTENDANCE

Please remember if you want to see a specific GP or Nurse to book your appointments in advance. If you cannot attend your appointments for any reason please let us know as soon as possible, we can then offer the appointment to someone else.

Please ensure you arrive on time for your appointment as late arrivals have a knock on effect for other patients. If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you may not be seen.

If you fail to cancel or attend an appointment three times in any 12 month period, we will send on a first instance letter to draw this to their attention. If a further failure of attendance occurs we will then ask that the patient registers at another practice.

HOME VISITS

Most of our patients come to the surgery because we are able to give a higher standard of care there, and doctors’ travelling time is saved means there is more time available for consultations. If you are too ill to attend the surgery, however, you will certainly be visited but please call as soon after 8.00 am as possible, as the doctor may want to speak to you.

WEEKEND, EVENING AND NIGHT CALLS

When the Surgery closes the telephones are connected to an answering machine which will give the contact telephone number of the services providing out of hours cover throughout Ayrshire. This is a service for urgent care that cannot wait until the Surgery reopens. This number is 111.
